What is Scarves for Service?

First of all, let me introduce myself! My name is Emily Larsen, I am 15 years old, and I love the Lord with all my heart! My dream is to become a missionary, and I don't know exactly what God has planned for me, but I know that He will guide me and lead me according to his perfect plan! My #1 priority is to bring honor to His name and serve Him in any and every way I can. Thank you so much for visiting my blog, hopefully it will help you learn more about Scarves for Service and my walk with the Lord through service! Please check out the links in the sidebar to see learn more about this micro-business, how it got started, and where God is leading it. All of this is located on my website, along with pictures of my scarves, my first mission trip to Cambodia, and past and present local service projects! If you are interested, you can even check out an explanatory video I made about S4S on my YouTube channel.
If you are new to my story and don't quite understand what S4S is, let me explain! "Scarves for Service" was created in December of 2011. I got the idea to start making infinity scarves to sell in order to raise money to send kids to camp. I've gone to "Hume Lake Christian Camps" since I was in 3rd grade, and it hit me that some kids can't afford to go to camp. I'd never taken Hume for granted, but I never really realized how truly blessed I was to be able to attend such an amazing camp without financial worries. Hume was where I experience the very real and powerful presence of the Lord like never before, and I wanted others to be able to experience that as well!

In March of 2012, I knitted over 50 scarves and raised $700 at my first sale to donate to the "Send a Kid to Camp." Afterwards, I continued to knit scarves, and I sold them for the second time in September of 2012. Again, I raised $700, and that is amazing to me because of the biblical significance of the number 7. This time however, I decided to save the money to help fund my first upcoming mission trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia in December of 2012!

I am currently knitting scarves to sell during the winter of 2013, and I am so excited! (This will be my 3rd Scarves for Service sale) I am going back to Cambodia in December of 2013, so that is where the money raised this year will go as well.
I feel so blessed with all the support from my friends and families. Two of my teachers have recently given me $100 donations for my mission trip funding. This was completely unexpected and so generous of them!! I'm so fortunate! The Lord is continuing to open so many doors for me in my missions journey, and I am proud to serve such a gracious God! Again, thank you so much for visiting this blog, God bless!
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace."
